    Dimming laptop screen

I have an old HP laptop - actually says on the back Compaq nz7010 & Part number : PQ803PA#ABG that I want to give to a friends Mum who is going to have to stay still for long periods after an operation in order for her to have something other that the TV to occupy her.

Now it is loaded with XP Pro and I now this isn't a 7 issue but all that is wrong with it is that the screen is quite dim and I was wondering id anyone could come up with some tips on getting this screen a little more brighter if possible please.

I have tried the drivers and they are up to date or so the Device Manager is telling me, and I am just now wondering if it is past it's use by date?.

Try FN+F7 to increase the brightness. See section 2-4 in attached manual.
