    Weird Partition

I have bought my GE70 without any OS. When I was instaling W7 Pro at the partition stage there already was 2gb partition where 1.9gb was already in use. I didnt pay much attention to it; it had a wierd name, just random symbols.
I was doing a defrag and here is a print screen of the partition

Can someone tell me what is this?

We might be able to tell more if you would post a copy of your Disk Management expanded so we can read all of the words. Use your Snipping Tool to upload it. If you need help with the upload, read this tutorial Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

    Hi,

Very odd - looks like a System partition, but formatted as FAT32.

Did you not wipe/format the disk prior to the Windows 7 installation? For security reasons, I recommend this strongly (you don't know what was on the disk prior to you purchasing the computer).

You can wipe the disk during installation using the DISKPART CLEAN command:

Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command

    Regards,

Is it possibly the manifacturers partition that contains the boot files? It is the only active partition. I must admit, I have never seen such a partition.

Could you check to see if your hard drive is set up as MBR or GPT?

The GE70 comes with a recovery partition that can be accessed by tapping F3 on startup. I read that you will be able to burn a set of recovery disks by using it. Did you buy it new? If so MSI tech support can tell you exactly what the partition is and what's inside.

I think that is the System Reserved, normally 100 MB partition. Don't delete it. I have a feeling you won't be able to start your PC then. It is strange that the size, name and format are not normal. I think I would format the drive and reinstall Windows. You want to get this right. Use this tutorial to get everything correct.
