Cannot tell what CPU I have in my old laptop

I have an old laptop - Toshiba A200 with a T5500 1.66GHz and I pull up Speccy and it is telling me two stories - name - Core 2 duo T5500 and a bit further down the readout Core (TM) 2 Duo T5450 @ 1.66GHZ.

I have looked up both on the Intel site and both are 64 bit instruction set I am not real sure which is which? But as long as it states 64bit instruction set on both the Intel specs site for each number I am assuming it can run 7 64bit?

Yes, you should be good to go with 64-bit, but as that's an older machine, make sure you run the Win 7 upgrade utility to check for compatibility of the hardware software.

Another thing I have come unstuck on when upgrading older machines is finding Win 7 drivers (32 or 64-bit) for the particular machine - so I'd make sure they are available first.

Cheers.

I the FWIW department, I have an older laptop with a T2390 CPU which came installed with Vista. There are no Windows 7 drivers for it. I installed Windows 7 X64 on it and windows installed all of the necessary drivers. I went to the Intel Download Center and it scanned the computer and showed me the correct chipset drivers. It has run as well as it ever has, so far. I also understand you can use soime Vista drivers installed in compatability mode if needed. Also, CPUz should identify the CPU for you.
