    correct configuration for SATA+ IDE HD + IDE DVD writer

    Hello,
    I need you help to configure my system.
    I want to use my 500 GB SATA WD HDD as Master(Win 7 installed) and 80 GB Samsung IDE HDD as Slave (windows xp installed) and LG IDE DVD writer.

    For that I tried following different settings but none of them work.

    1) SATA with no jumper + IDE disk with master jumper and IDE DVD writer as slave jumper

    2) SATA with no jumper + IDE disk with Cable select jumper and DVD writer as cable select jumper

    But in both the situations IDE disk and DVD writer did not detected in BIOS and pc boot with windows 7 SATA.

    If I use any two then this combination does work
    a) SATA with no jumper + IDE disk with no jumper = Work
    b) SATA with no jumper + DVD Writer = Work
    c) IDE disk with master jumper + DVD writer without jumper = work.

    But I want to use all three hardwares together.

    Information :
    My motherboard (ASRock -Wolfdale1333-D667) does have only one IDE port.
    I am using 80 pin IDE cable (newly bought )

    Please help me to configure correctly.
    Thanks in advance.

    Are you sure the SATA drive is on SATA slot #1 ? ?

    Do you have the IDE drives cabled correctly ? ?

    MBoard===================================slave===========master.

    And finally have you checked the boot order in Setup ? ?

    Double check the jumper setting on the hard drive, it varies by manufacturer. The correct jumper setting should be listed on the label. I've seen drives that require two jumpers when its a Master with Slave. Also, for Cable Select to work it has to be one of the newer 80 wire 40 pin IDE cables, not the older 40 wire 40 pin cable. It should be obvious which one you have just by looking at it.

    The SATA drive needs no jumper at all. The Two IDE devices should both be jumpered as master if they use separate IDE channels. If they are on the same IDE cable, set both to Cable Select.

    There is only one IDE channel.

    Cable select can also be finicky on some MBoards.

    Never use Cable Select (CS). Always set MAster and SLave explicitly on the drives (there should be an indication showing where jumper(s) should be inserted) and ensure that they are plugged into the correct socket on the cable (MA at the end, SL in the middle).

    thanks everyone for reply

    @ Patio = Bios says hd is in SATA slot #1 and Cable is also inserted same as you mentioned.
    MBoard===================================DVD writer ===========IDE hdd

    Currently i have set SATA HDD and IDE HDD without jumper and Boot order is DVD - SATA HDD - USB

    I can set either SATA HDD or either IDE HDD in booting.

    @alphanumeric I verified IDE jumper setting from Samsung site and yes i am using 80 wire 40 pin IDE cable.

    @Britton30 : as my mobo has only one IDE channel i am trying to connect IDE hdd and IDE dvd writer on same cable and also tried both hardware with cable select jumper setting. In that case my IDE hdd does not detect in BIOS and i can open and closed dvd drive but does not displayed in BIOS.

    Finally My problem got resolved
    What i did is set my IDE HDD as master jumper and IDE DVD writer without any jumper. Then my system has detected Disk drive as master and DVD writer as slave.
    Hope this solution will help someone also.
    Thanks everyone for your valuable suggestions :)
