Keyboard types different char for same key press

Hi - Sorry, nube. I have windows 7 on my HP. Every once in a while I try to login but cant (using the keyboard). Have to revert to onscreen kb to login. Then, some programs (e.g. Outlook) when I type I get a differnt char on each key stroke. Example, type "I" but get *&jhTHB(^jy7%$&89 (one different char per key stroke). If I hold the key, then the same (wrong) character repeats.

This started with my PS2 HP provided keyboard.

I have tried picking US kb vs other languages
I have tried using a USB kb (same issue)

    So I am baffled!

    HELP!

I have the same issue as bbader123. Interestingly I have found that the on-screen keyboard (found under accessories/easy of use) works just fine???!!! I can get the keyboard to work when I open IE8. But when I close it the issue returns. What the...???

I rebuilt my HP with Windows 7 home 64, did not try and load all the HP drivers. Seems to have fixed the issue. I keep my C drive clean (all data on other drives) so if I have to rebuild (or image) its not to painful.

Never did figure out this keyboard problem however

Arg! I was hoping not to do a complete re-install. Always a tiring experience. Hopefully I can get the issue fixed with a clean install and using only microsoft drivers. Have a Toshiba so hopefully the experience will be smooth. Starting the back up process now...

I'm running the 64 bit Win7 Professional, using a Logitech G15 keyboard and G9 Laser Mouse. With this same equipment it runs perfect in 32 bit Vista. but in windows 7 none of the G Buttons will work after i put macro's in them, and even if i go to a web site and want to select the screen data but doing a Ctrl A Ctrl C, nothing get selected (highlight) so nothing goes to the clipboard to paste. i've tried to contact Logitech but only the automated answerback that they received my question

I just picked up a MS Wireless Keyboard 6000 v 3.0 and am experiencing the intermittent keystroke issue. I upgraded the intellitype and intellipoint drivers from 7.x to 8.x and still have the same problem. I did *not* uninstall the drivers, I just installed the latest drivers over the old ones.

I can be typing (as in this post) and will have the blinking cursor but the input will just stop. It doesn't store the keystrokes entered either. It just picks up where you are when it decides to start working again. I've had multiple instances of this just while typing this msg.

My MIL has this keyboard on her XP system and got so frustrated with it she replaced it with a 5000 series. So I took it and thought I'd play with it to see what it does on my Windows 7/64 home premium system. Same problem.

This keyboard is a disaster. I had major trouble just completing this post.
