If you can open a session, try How to Run Disk Check in Windows 7 and Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log

Post the result & Some might be able to help you around a tiny more!

    Hi mustwatchtv,

    1. Stop any further activity on the HDD (if you have any data that you would like to recover).

    2. In particular do not run check disk under this condition. In trying to repair there is a possibility that it could muck up the HDD further and corrupt any data and make it worse. When one suspects an impending HDD failure, running check disk is not recommended..

    3. Prepare a live Linux CD/pendrive with another computer, boot from it and copy all data you may want to recover to an external device. Lucid Puppy way to recover files from a non-bootable computer

    4. Once you have recovered the data, run the HDD manufacturer's diagnostic/repair utility.

    jumanji could be right...

i've done it my way once successfully and run HDD Regenerator at boot to repair a bad sector. It just took me ages to fix it!
