    hp 4200 network printer issue

    this is a strange one

I just bought a new dell desktop PC with Windows 7

    here is system

    Dell Inspiron 537S

Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)

I have a HP 4200 printer connected to a pc via usb (running pro xp) in my office in the basement. I connected the new computer via my home network (my wife has a lap top, and several employees use the internet connection and the printer via a WAP)

From the desktop with win 7 i can print a test page, and print from notepad but can't print from adobe, my cad program (turbo-cad) or from open office. very strange, the print job shows up and is listed as printed but nothing is printed.

I have no problem printing from any other pc on the network (they are all xp or vista)

I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers from HP

    so what do you think?

    Thanks

Which driver did you use? I see it has a PCL5e,6, & Postscript? I'm using the PCL 6 on a 4600 windows 7. Kinda surprised 7 didn't install its own driver. Are you sure the driver loaded? Check the printer properties.

windows 7 installed the preloaded driver just fine, and it printed the test page fine, it also prints in notepad.

the printer shows up as the default printer on the upstairs PC

it will not print PDF files, or turbo cad files, or open office files

the print job is making it to the printer, but it never prints

after i noticed this problem I downloaded and installed the diver from HP
