Window does not recognize a usb stick.

I have a pc at work that does not recognize my usb stick. It gives me a exlamation mark. Installing the driver is not possible and windows gives me this message

"This operation requires an interactive windows station".

While searching this forum i came across this possible solution Verbatim 1TB External drive not recognised on boot
The result was that after the reboot windows did install the driver but still gives me the exlamation mark and when trying to install it manual it still gives says the same error.
And windows (schijfbeheer)forgot the name in english) does not even see the usb stick.

Would a reinstall of windows do the trick cause this is not the only problem.

    - Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Anyway i hope you guys have a solution. Thanks in advance!!

Does your work PC recognize any USB stick?
Reason I ask is that many corporates disable USB stick insert/access as a security measure.

Speak with your IT support people at work and ask whether there is any such restriction place. Also ask your work colleagues and see if they have similar problems.

All I can suggest I'm afraid, Hopefully you will get suggestions from others on this forum.

Ok, just did some more reading on this error and people have had success by turning off their anti-virus and or Firewall software to allow the drivers for the device to install correctly.

If you can safely disable those, it would be worth trying.

Make sure you turn everything back on afterwards.

Yeah somehow that did not work for me. I even tried it in Safe Mode but no luck. I am thinking of just do a clean install of windows 7. That should fix all errors i have including this one.

Try uninstalling the device driver that has the exclamation mark on it in Device Manager - then reboot. Windows should recognize the device and reinstall the driver.
