Usb 3 Speed Hi
I recently bought a USB 3 flash drive and was curious why I was only getting 32mb/sec read and about 20mb/sec write speed. Could it be that my usb 3 slots are not really usb 3?
Thanks!

ADATA
It had good reviews on Amazon, here's one of them

Take it for what it's worth. As you can see, 4k write speeds are extremely low, but all of the read speeds are excellent for a flash drive | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self OS windows 7 home premium 64 bit CPU Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz Motherboard Intel DH77EB, H77 Memory 8GB (2x4GB) PC10600 DDR3 1333 Dual Channel Graphics Card GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB PCI EXpress 16X dual head, HDMI Sound Card On board Monitor(s) Displays Dell Case Thermaltake V3 Hard Drives 60.0 GB SSD Intel 330Solid State Drive, Maxtor Black 500 GB 7200 rpm, LG 22x DVD Recorder Dual Layer +R/RW -R/RW |

Are you using the USB 3.0 ports ran by the Intel chipset, or a 3rd party one? That will make a difference. Also, I see you are using the Thermaltake V3, but can you give me a link to the exact one on say, Newegg? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1 CPU Intel Core i5-3570K @ 4.5GHz Motherboard Asus Sabertooth Z77 Memory Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4) @1866MHz Graphics Card Intel HD4000 Sound Card Onboard Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell S2309W Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Max Nighthawk X8 Mechanical keyboard Mouse Logitech MX 500 Wired PSU Seasonic X750 80+ Gold Full Modular Case Antec Eleven Hundred Super Mid Tower Cooling Intel Liquid Cooler Hard Drives Samsung 830 128GB SSD - OS

Are you using the USB port on the back of your computer, or the ones in the front of the case? If you are using the ones in the front of your case, they are USB 2.0. If you are using the ones in the back, make sure you have it plugged into one that is actually 3.0, because that motherboard has 2.0 and 3.0 rear USB ports. The 3.0 ports should be blue. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1 CPU Intel Core i5-3570K @ 4.5GHz Motherboard Asus Sabertooth Z77 Memory Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4) @1866MHz Graphics Card Intel HD4000 Sound Card Onboard Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell S2309W Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Max Nighthawk X8 Mechanical keyboard Mouse Logitech MX 500 Wired PSU Seasonic X750 80+ Gold Full Modular Case Antec Eleven Hundred Super Mid Tower Cooling Intel Liquid Cooler Hard Drives Samsung 830 128GB SSD - OS

Ok thanks!
I didn't know the blue ones are usb3. I was plugging in the front. It seems from the literature from the intel board that they had 2 in front as well as 2 in the back.
Sure enough I got around 80-85mb/sec read but only about 20 on write still a big improvment
Thanks so much!
The case # is vl80001w2z. I believe it is the intel chipset as I looked in device manager and looked at the drivers I don't know if it means anything (I am a novice) but it did show the intel drivers

The Intel board DOES have front panel USB 3.0, your case, however, does not. If it did, it would come with a single cable with a fairly wide 19-pin connector that would plug into the blue connector on the right/front edge of the board. Most updated cases these days come with a couple of USB 3.0 front panel ports, when you are in the market for a new case, make sure it has that so you can take advantage of it. Glad we got you straightened out though, sounds like those are some pretty decent speeds.

Thanks again for your help
Too bad i hadn't known about that initially, I would have gone with a more expensive case.
