    Inexpensive Wired Router Recommendation?

My six-year old D-link router just died. I know next to nothing about these devices. I just need a basic wired router with one wan port and at least 3 of the other ports (lan ports?) to connect to computer, tivo, media player. I use a Time-Warner cable-modem, if that makes any difference. Thanks much.

I have used Net Gear routers for years with no complications ever. They install efforstlessly, and work tirelessly.

They're not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

You would be hard-pressed to find a home router that wasn't inexpensive, to be honest. I used to recommend Linksys, but they have been doing some strange things with updates. I also have a Netgear, and it's been flawless.

Holy crap those start at $200 and got to $1,400!

    My reccommendation is this: Newegg.com - TP-LINK TL-R402M 4-Port Cable/DSL Router 1 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports
    it has a 65% 5/5 rating and 18% 4/5 rating.

This is the best router on the market, for the price 59.00 you can't beat it.

I work in the networking section of this forum.

These days you can get a wireless one pretty cheap. There is no need to go with a wired one. Get a USB adapter for your PC with a wireless modem and you are in business without those wires. == If money is a problem, you might try these. I have no reason to think these would not be as good as the more expensive ones. This is a modem and USB adapter, in two separate buys, and you are setup wireless.

I use this Asus RTN12 300M Super Speed. I just use it hard wired. Remove the antennas and covered the antenna ports with tin foil. So far it has worked great but I don't use WIFI so I can't tell you how that works. Various prices $40.00 to $50.00.

Oh, there are. All the expensive ones were at the top and I just closed the page once I got to the $1,400 one.

Had me worried for a minute that I missed something in world events that caused router prices to skyrocket!
