    weird drive letter problem?

hello guys, so i had this random problems where my external hard drive has changed to the letter (F: ) which is inconvenient as many of the music production programs I use require the drive letter (G: ) and this letter is now showing as a 'portable device' i will provide screenshots below, I have tried Disk management and also Uninstalling the driver for whatever is taking up (G: ) at this moment in time, can anyone help me please?

    thank-you in advance.

You leave the Hitachi drive connected all the time?
I think the current "G" is the HP-Tools partition which is hidden. Unplug the Hitachi, reboot & see what happens when you plug it in after the boot is completed. You can verify this with Easeus Partition Master.
You can "fix" USB drive letter assignments with this: USB Drive Letter Manager - USBDLM

In Disk Management give the external drive a Volume Label...it can be anything you want.
Then assign it the drive letter you want and re-boot.
It will now retain that letter ...so long as you picked one thats not in use.

I've reserved the drive letter s-z on all my systems for years now for partitions and devices that refuse to accept the drive assignments I have given them.
To get the G letter off that drive just extend it to a letter you'll likely never use for anything else.

It's years that I have an external USB HDD that has a volume label and is letter Z (just to make sure it does not pick a new letter and screw up links).
And to deal with partitions and drive letters and things I always used EaseUs partition master (which is free).
