DVD - RW and DVD + RW

I just finished reading an article on what the difference between the two are and I know as much as when I started, very little. I just looked on my desk and I have both of them. Not sure why I chose one over the other. I understand about the RW, but why would one buy a plus and why would one buy a minus? I don't believe there are separate DVD drives for either format, so why are there two? == It seems like that someone told me that one can be used on a regular DVD player and one can only be used on a PC. Is that correct? Fill me in. Thanks,

I believe the + is compatible with all DVD players. This site has a simple explanation.

It took me a lot of reading, but for those who choose not to read, this is the condensed version.
As of June 2006, there is no physical difference between a DVD-R/-RW disc and a DVD+R/+RW disc.

The discs yes. There is some differences in formats, and there are burners that are just one or the other. Or, at least there used to be

There is only one difference that I know of. For making "backup" copies of playstation 2 games, the -R works better as the +R's will cause skipping with cut scene playback. I also thought -R's have better compatibility with drives, but that is something I am not sure about.
