Windows 7: Epson printer problem

I have a sort of new Epson Stylus C88 and the black cartridge is empty and I know that if I change out the cartridge it will work but the thing just goes through the things like crazy any idea of how I can stop this.

LOL, quit printing.

Or look into a CIS.

If you print allot of text (in black) try using draft mode. This will save loads of ink.

The other problem is is when it is not in use it runs low on ink.

try inksupply.com for continuos feed system, I run them on a Epson 880, 1280 and 1160 printers just add ink to bottles, they work. Printer that runs out of ink just sitting is running to may cleaning cycles or resolution is set to high for what you are doing. as sujested switch to draft mode.

I've got an Epson Stylus CX 4500, it does the same thing. I can put in a new cartridge print 10 pages and if I don't use it for 3 weeks, the ink cartridges are empty.

Usually use draft settings when I can. Think it's just a cartridge selling machine.

Next printer won't be a Epson.

I just had a brain flash why not take out the cartridges and put them out upside down.
