A mouse by Ednet. Article nr 81050. Connected to PC with USB - doesn't work, although this red laser turns on, but cursor doesn't move, click also doesn't work. Windows says Unknown Device.
Now when plugging on USB to PS/2 converter and connecting, mouse works as it should.
Tried on two different PC, same results.

Hiyya Abmaster and welcome. Just wondering mate when you first plugged tis device in did it start up with the usual pop up saying installing new hardware device or a similar message?
Have a look in Device Manager in in Control Panel in any case and right click on the device then click on Update driver software it wll probably ask whether to search your machine for it or on line choose the online and see what happens.
If it comes up with right driver already installed try the port you were using (USB) with another device and see if the port is working as should be.
It's accutaly my classmates mouse and he told me that the mouse was accutaly working on his laptop for about month and then stopped. Like I said, the mouse is tried on my classmates' and my PC, and I know that all my USB hubs are working correctly.
I already tried the online search for drivers, it says "Unknown device, drivers are up to date".
Personally I think that the problem is with mouse USB plug pins. As I look at the Data + and Data - pins, they kind of seem to be lower than VCC and GND. When attaching PS/2 adapter on USB plug, then the PS/2 female pins get contact with male plug and thats why mouse works with PS/2 adapter plugged on. That's just my version...
This is tricky, there was apparently a listed driver specifically for that mouse and usb use.
However, it would seem as of july 1st of this year. The company is no longer actually owned by ednet.
Driverguide has a driver it claims is for that mouse. I can't verify it though.
Tried driverguide drivers, no avail.
well the only thing I have left for you is to unplug the mouse disable SS and then try rebooting to see if the mouse will take without the newer windows 7 power features on.
To Disable Selective Suspend:
open the control panel
go to power options (you may have to set view to small icons)
click change plan settings
in the window that opens:
click change plan settings
click change advanced power settings, expand usb and ensure usb selective suspend is disabled.
...in all honesty I don't expect that to work though it won't hurt anything either.
Hey AbMaster mate unless it was a very expensive mouse my friend I'd be getting a new one they are as cheap as chips.
The other thing is get a tooth pick twist a tiny piece of cotton wool around the end and a little alcohol of some sort and gently wipe the contacts down inside the plug and the socket. :)
