Yeah agree with you KD and I always wipe any previously used drive first with the Partition Wizard and always use WHS's tutorial on preparing the SSD with all drives SSD or HDD SSD Alignment as I have probably already mentioned.

The OP is doing a Clean Install so no alignment is needed.

Thanks for all the advice guys - just need the 3.5 ins cradle to arrive now. The iso download was set to take 3 hrs and the internet connect was lost with 40 mins to go - back to square one!

Yeah I know bigmck it is just a fussy thing that I do really so I cannot make any mistakes - pedantic you might call it LOL!!

Just curious what brand and how big your SSD is.

Thanks - I'll let you know how it goes- I still don't understand how I can just download a free copy of windows - do I use my serial number )OEM) and won't it need activating - inwhich case won't microsoft just tell me this copy is already activated?

You have a sticker on your PC. It has a 25 Character Key on it. The sticker is not very big, about as big as three stamps. When you have installed Windows 7 and are happy with it (you have 30 days to test it out). You then input your Product Key (the 25 character one) into Windows and it is activated. You paid for Win 7 when you bought the PC. If you did not activate it, Microsoft would eventually find out and you would see a black screen one day. So thats different to the Product ID that I see when I right click on mt computer and the number is something loke xxxxx-OEMxxxxxx ?
