Windows 7: Will i3 2120 with a HD 6850 play GTA 5

I have seen on the internet on more than one place that GTA 5 is recommended to work on a system with:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 3.66GHz and
Video Card (GPU): 1GB NVIDIA 8600 or 1 GB ATI



will I be able to play it with a i3 2120 and a HD 6850

is a 2120 better than a intel core 2 quad @ 3.66

I'm not sure that there ever was such a thing as a Core 2 Quad CPU at 3.66GHz (stock).

Intel® Core

The Passmark rating on an I3-2120 is roughly the same as a Core 2 Q9650.

I don't own GTA 5, or an I3-2120, so I can't comment from experience.

You won't own it Bob as it's not even released yet lol.


To the OP, as far as I know they have not even given a release date for the game yet not alone any minimum or recommended specs from Rockstar themselves. I had a quick search on google and saw a few sites 'guessing' what you will need to run it.

All I can say is to wait until Rockstar officially release more details, they will do and well before it comes out so you will be able to see if you can run it before you buy it.

Just because they are on numerous sites, doesn't mean that it's true. Rockstar hasn't released the information so they're just making it up out of no where and following each other. Wait for Rockstar to put up the system specs that are required.

I'm sure with and average graphics card combined to HD 2000 (i3 2120) on a compatible LGA 1155 motherboard you'll be able to play your game.

well if the OP is still wondering whether or not the mentioned rig will be able to play GTA 5 or not,let me confirm that i am 110% sure you will be able to play it.....just not sure on which settings
Seriously though,on the rig mentioned in my profile which i3 2100 and GTX 460 SC (a lil better then 6850) i have played dozens of games including Battlefield 3 @ 1920x1080 and ALL settings on Ultra including AA i got 35 FPS on average. And if you did not know,BF3 is one of those games that requires a LOT of juice to run normally.
What i mean,i can confirm from personal experience,no matter how good GTA 5 looks,your system will be able to play it on at LEAST medium settings.
I suggest you simply upgrade your GPU to7850 or if not then a 6950/6970 so you can be sure to play the game on at least High settings.
