There is no fingerprint reader. I can't decide if I should get one or not. I have prevoiusly used a laptop with a fingerprint reader but I just used it for logging on to windows.

Should I upgrade the laptop to have a fingerprint reader and what features do fingerprint readers have now?

Thanks!

Pretty much that's it. I believe you can also preprogram website passwords into it so you can login with one swipe, but the only websites that don't automatically log you in are banking sites and sites that the reader won't recognize the login screen on anyways.

I had a computer last year for school that had a finger print scanner, and it got used very little.

fingerprint scanners are far more reliable that the webcam facial recognition that some laptops have, but it's easy to just type in your password.

Is the recognition technology better now? Becuase on my old laptop, I have to swipe my finger a few times before I get logged on.

i found that a fingerprint reader is an essential hardware..i not only use it to log in into windows but to manage and log in into websites..i don't have to remember passwords..i just swipe my finger and it automatically logs me in..works very well with internet explorer 9..and its quick too..but i guess you have to have good software to work with the hardware..HP simplepass does that quite well..
