Tons of problems with USB Root Hub

Okay, I'm new to this forum so if I do anything incorrectly I'm quite sorry

I've recently had tons of problems with my USB Root Hub. I was getting some BSOD's (not the issue), and I found that my usb root hub had an exclamation point in device manager.

Okay, good, cool, no more bsod's. Until I plugged in a usb drive to do a school project. The driver installed, and then Windows brought up a message saying "This device can perform faster". I couldn't access the files on it, nor would anything else usb related work.

So, I uninstalled the usb root hub again. After re-installing/checking for hardware changes, nothing happened, until I checked device manager, which had this strange "USB Mass Storage Device".
Uninstalling that and checking for hardware changes, the device installed fine, but then the empty usbs would slowly appear in Computer, and after all of them appeared, they just suddenly disappeared.

The usb root hubs then exclamation pointed again, setting me back to where I was before.

In safe mode, I can install them and view the files on my drive no problem. Even if I keep the usb plugged in/keep the drivers the way they were in safe mode and reboot, the usb appears to be fine in normal mode, until I unplug the drive and plug it back in.

If this sounded really bizzare, it's exactly how it sounds. In a nutshell, the usb driver appears to be being pushed back by something and erroring out.

Any help would be nice..

"USB mass storage device" is how an USB port connected to USB device with an internal memory is called. pendrives, HDDs, whatever.

That's because you must have the option "hide empty drives" checked. It detects a USB port, installs USB driver, sees that it's empty, hides it.

Did you do this? The full procedure is a bit tedious but should work.

They usually appear, even when empty. After all of them disappear, the "device removed" sound effect plays. I never checked off to hide these either. Also, my flash drive disappears too along with the empty drives.

I can access the drive for about 2 seconds, but then it ejects itself along with the others.

I've tried uninstalling all of them and re-installing, and I've also tried updating with files from my c:\windows directory - "Drivers are up to date" even when broken.

I should probably note that this mainly happened after I had installed libusb for my ps3 controller.. I read somewhere that it kills usb. But it's entirely gone from the system, no drivers or program or anything. I'm not even sure if that's the issue.

I've posted more details on the facepunch forums , but the only problem is I had posted it there when it had first started, so it's a little less clear.

Below is normally how the "Computer" screen looks and works. The windows classic-y ones are in safe mode.

I'd use the youtube feature but it's acting funny whenever I put the tags around it

so is there any solution? I just got a IRQL bluescreen with a 0x00000a error code, too.

I'm not willing to test my ram, I don't have a lot of time for that. I don't think that's the problem anyway because my computer's been running fine for months and I don't see why it would suddenly happen

using USB is urgent, as I just recently started school and have things to print (usb printer)
