Printer error, no printer, Active Directory Domain Services Unavailabl

Windows 7, HP Officejet 4500 printer. Has worked fine for more than a year. Recently found that I am not able to print documents (it will print directly from internet). I have removed and installed drivers several times. I have completed a full and partial printer reset. Still unable to print. Just found that I am unable to send a fax as well.
When attempting to print document, I get the "no printer installed" error. When I attemt to install printer, I get the Active Directory Domain Services Unavailable error. HP printer is, in fact installed and selected as default printer on Control Panel.
I am computer illiterate (not a tech head). Thanks for any assistance.
