Power Supplies into PC Towers - Are there any types that don't fit?

Hi all

I need a more new power supply for my PC tower (Xigmatek Asgard).

Are there any combinations that don't, for whatever reason, work?

Or is it pretty much a case of choose a PSU, fit it and away you go?

Thank you in advance.

Best

The PSU must be the sort to match the motherboard, plus have connectors for your peripherals (like PCI-E for high-powered graphics cards).

Aside from that, with a PSU mounted in the bottom of the case, its cables have to be long enough to reach. The 4 or 8 pin ATX 12V cable may be likeliest to be a bit short. Extender cables exist.

Your case takes a standard Atx PSU. If it was me I would over purchase and get at least 600-650watts and also look for Silver or Gold rated units and do consider the advantages of semi or full modular with the option for SLi or Corssfiring. I just bought a Corsair for a new build but then I bought a Seasonic on sale. I have to say the Seasonic is wicked nice, but for sure get a premium brand that has good or great ratings.

I would like to say it's easy and really it is, but you disconnect everything and pull the old one out then you sweat the details on the new one. With a modular unit you start with all the mainboard power then the GPU power then work toward all the other accessories and if you're like me then you run your fans off the PSU as well if you have quiet fans. Taking extra time to route all the cables with zip ties and such it will take several hours and may be re-done several times until you are perfectly happy.
