Blu-ray Writer Question

My PC is not hi-def ready. It only has a VGA connection on the back. Can I buy a Blu-ray writer, anyway, and just use it to write data to blank BD discs?

No worries. If it's any use to you, I bought this one when I built my PC:

LG BH10LS38 10x BD-RW with DVD±RW DL & RAM.. | Ebuyer.com

Great value and I haven't had any problems with it so far
