Windows 7: My HCL 1044 notebook hangs and modem is disconnected automatically

Hi,

I am owning a HCL 1044 notebook with Windows 7, and i connect to internet through wired broadband connection, and the hardware is as shown in device and printers, it works fine... but after some time i see the usb connection light in the modem device gets turned off [as if it is not connected to a computer at all] and obviously the connection drops... and shortly after that the whole system freezes and only way to workaround so far is to press the power button to reboot.



After reboot everything's fine again.


I think it could be a hardware issue?

Please help me resolve it
