Well, I'm not sure Testdisk can help in this case, let me read more

ok, let's see what a dump tells us.

quit back to teh previous screen and select options
    change dump: no to yes
    ok to save

hmm, did you create a log this time? I'm not sure where the dump goes - or how to initiate it.

I'll keep reading - you can start over if you did NOT create a log file or wait unitl I post back.

I might have to call it quits in a bit, getting near 23:00 here.

Ok, no part when you selected advanced, right?
edit: thanks for "fixing" the stretched forum.

Testdisk identifies the drive correctly, but has trouble with partitioning.

I might have asked this before, but was that drive always a data drive or was it ever a boot drive?

Please reboot the machine, I'll give it a little more time tonight - I'm not sure where you are in the world, so it might even be later where you are.

    ok, thanks

try analyse again. it might get further than 43%. I had to go back and check your screen to see what options there were - none.

the doc references a deeper scan, but not on your drive - just stop.

so try the steps again, but create a log, select the drive, select intel, and analyse

youn don't need to post every screen if you're comfortable with Testdisk now.

If the analyse gets further you should start posting the screens step-by-step.

This will probably be my last for tonight.

Testdisk forums might have something if you want to continue on your own - the same caveats apply. Careful and pay attemtion.

If you want to switch gears after analyse runs to success or failure, you might try data recovery using photorec - the response was written by the author of Testdisk and photorec.

Or you could peruse the Testdisk docs and forum for another course of action.

I'll wait til you post the results of the analyse.
