Help with window 7 unable to do certain things

Hi everyone, im new just signed up as im having trouble with windows 7 and hope you can help!

Basically i have a quite new less than 1 year old samsung RF711 laptop, with windows 7 home premium. The laptop has been working fine until recently and i cant work out why.

For some reason i cant see any devices in device manager, not a single icon appears, neither can i use my usb ports nor can i see battery life on my task bar.
I am the only user on the laptop from day 1 and i am administrator, i have tried loading my laptop in safe mode but still will not work. I have looked on some forums but unable to find any useful information.

any advice or guides for me to try is much appreciated, i can work a computer fairly well but certainly no expert. Thanks for any help i receive, Daniel.

    Hi Daniel,

You can try restoring your system back to a date when it was working fine. System Restore will affect Windows system files, programs, and registry settings only.

For System Restore steps, you can refer to the URL mentioned: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore

    Keep us posted.

Hi Debbie, I would like to find the cause if possible. As I have program that is used by a couple of people to record our tachograph cards(hgv drivers). If I have to do a restore then I will have to reinstall the software.

I also can't view wireless properties, it comes up with a message and won't allow me to view it.

I also don't know if I have a restore point back far enough, I never did one till recently and that was after this problem occurred.

    Hi Daniel,

It could be due to corrupt profile. If you dont want to restore the system, then you can even try creating a New User account which might fix this issue. For steps refer to: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Create-a-user-account

That could be possible, I can't even remember when it did work to be honest. I will create another user soon and see if I have access to the above problems.

I have added a new account as admin, with administrator rights but still no joy. Any other suggestions?

Anyone got any other ideas? I'm probably going to restore it or wipe the system clean and reinstall windows 7.
