can you help with my external HDD and TV??

when playing MP4 movies off my HDD on my samsung TV the HDD disconnects after 5 minutes of play, then immediately re-connects, i have gone through all the TV settings and cant find anything in there.

how can i remedy this? its really annoying me now

its a samsung, not sure on the model, how would i find this info? its mounted on my wall so cant exactly look on the back lol
