W7 USB Device Not Recognised - Unable to supress notification
I am not sure if this is hardware or software ... so I tossed a coin and here I am.
So I was happily unzipping files from an external HDD all last evening.
This morning I came to continue, and I'm getting a sys tray notification saying that a USB Device is not recognized.
Here's the nasty bit.
Even when I unplug my HDD from the USB port, I am still getting alerted.
I've been into Device manager and Disabled and Uninstalled the particular USB node that has an err icon next to it. But I still get alerted every few seconds with the usual 'bing-bong' to accompany it - driving me nuts.
** Development **
I've now plugged in a completely different external HDD via USB, and after transferring a few files, that also is now showing as 'Unrecognized Device'.
This really has be stumped .. and further more I am unable to do any backing up because of it.
Any pointers would be appreciated !!
