essenbe: "translation of your email is "If you didn't buy it from us, we won't give you a warranty".
I think the man at Fujitsu was trying to say it ............ but diplomatically.
By the way, I just want to share excerpts from emails between me & Fujitsu-Germany, if you are interested, else you can stop here itself.
Me: > Hi,

> 8GB RAM modules are available here because i myself purchased 2 sticks to make up 16GB.
>
> I understand that you are saying Fujitsu has only authorized 4GB modules to be used (like 2 * 4GB to make 8GB) and it does NOT guarantee 2 * 8GB modules will function safely (although it declares in the catalogue maximum RAM supported is 16GB).
>
> Well, I checked my task manager / resource monitor and it says I'm good with 16GB (ofcourse I'm NOT forcing Fujitsu to accept it but only sharing my views).
> By the way, when I removed the original sticks (2GB + 4GB), I was shocked to see "Made in China" on the RAM sticks , where as the laptop itself carries a label "Made in Germany"" !!!
Fujitsu-Germany:
> as I can see, there is a misunderstanding.
> It does not matter, whether there are 8GB RAM modules available anywhere in the market.
> We have 8GB RAM modules for other notebook models available.
>
> For each system a number of RAM modules, harddiscs and other components are tested, certified and sold with a Fujitsu part number. Only these have to be used in a Fujitsu system. If the customer uses others than these, we cannot give any warranty on function/ malfunction.

> The notebooks has been produced in Germany. The parts are from all over the world. As you surely know, some products are produced by multinational companies in various countries. These products are built from different parts coming from other countries, like a CPU (Intel has some Fabs in different countries), RAM, harddiscs, ...
> E.g. a German car like a BMW consists of thousands of parts coming from more than a dozen countries from all over the world. Even in Dubai there are not only Dubai people working, but many people from many other nationalities. I think you call it globalization.

Me:
Good morning gentleman and many thanks for your professional feedback yet again.
" .... If the customer uses others than these, we cannot give any warranty on function/ malfunction."
I completely understand that.
BUt on the other hand, trust me also that this upgrade comes after several consultations with experts and professionals (though Fujitsu may never officially endorse it just because you never tested / approved this configuration (16GB) during production).

In that case, the label should say "Assembled in Germany" instead of "Made in Germany" (like Apple Macbooks) !!
I hope there is a sensible difference between the two tags !!
Never the less, as long as the German quality control & testing is in place (for these apparently "Assembled in Germany" machines) I will still go for Fujitsu.
I'm waiting for his reply.
After this, I guess, Fujitsu will blacklist me !
