Help! DVD drive not working

I can't use my dvd drive.
Says I do not have one but it shows it in computer management with an exclamation mark.
When I try to update my drivers it says I have the best one.
I also tried to use a USB cr drive but it would not show up either!

I had this problem too upon installing windows 7 with a code 52 error.
to fix it:
- execute regedit
- search the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- When you found it delete Upperfilter and lowerfilter entries.
- Reboot your system.
You'll see your DVD-ROM drive in your computer again and
it will work.

Here is the Microsoft link to fix the problem:

Thanks for the tip pal!! It did the trick for me. My dvd drives (both internal and external) got messed up when I tried to upgrade from Vista using Window 7 dvd.

My computer: Samsung R710 laptop P8600 CPU 4GB RAM 320GB HDD

Upgrading also corrupted Nero InCD program which was showing error massage during start-up. Downloaded General-CleanTool from Nero website which fixed this problem.

That worked once for me two weeks after buying the computer, but has not worked since. Microsoft has a download that does it automatically "Mr Fixit" I think. New computer has been back to Lenovo three times but problem always returns after 5 to 10 days. Managed to get it back last time with a restore point back to delivered condition. But went again after 10 days. As far as the restore point manual disc space, I resolved it by the second C disc (said not in use) and selecting config and unticking the protection box. I could then adjust the slider to the space I wanted ie 10% not stuck at 1%. Thanks for your reply.

any one else have this trouble?? this has happened to me 3 times and i tried mr fixit,there are no upper or lowers to delete on my computer,i have tried uninstalling the drivers and restarting so windows reinstalls them.twice i have reformatted my computer but this time i managed to find the answer.simply restart your computer holding the f key required to boot by cd/dvd,mine being f12 on an acer.select boot by cd/dvd and the dvd drive comes good.just escape and you done.hope this helps some people.pass this on because i noticed its a common problem .cheers
