External HD not working when connected to usb hub

So I don't know whats going on with my computer, it is a Fujitsu T5010 Lifebook with Windows 7 Enterprise Version 6.1.7600 Build 7600. When I plug my external hard drive (WD My Passport Essentials, WD5000BEV) into a USB port it works fine, however when I plug it into my USB Hub, Windows intially recognizes it, but then it resets somehow and then a dialog pop up and asks to format the HD, this keeps going on until I disconnect the HD. Any ideas, suggestions, anything?

    Thanks

Is the hub (not the drive) self-powered?

If you connect the hub to the same portas the drive, the problem occurs?

    Problem is fixed, for now.

I basically removed the option for the drive to be indexed, and now it works.

Based solely on the frequent occurence of the problem described, I do not think that is a fix, but a workaround.

In the end, if your problem is solved, it is a good thing.
