My wireless mouse is malfunctioning, any way to fix it?

So I had a mouse, then bought another and lost that, then bought another and also lost that one. So now I've been stuck with the first one I bought for the last month, but it about 5 months old. It's just a cheap $20 - $25 wireless mouse.

It starting to malfunction finally. When I scroll down it will sometimes scroll (one scroll) back up and the same applies while scrolling up. Is there anyway I could fix this? I really don't want to buy another mouse and if I have to buy another mouse, it won't be for another 1 - 2 weeks. So any suggestions would be grateful.

    Thanks in advance.

    Clean the lens.

Why would the lens make the scroll feature fail?

You could try either updating any software/firmware for it, or take the sucker apart and clean the innards. Probably not best just in case you muck it up, heh.
