is this a mouse problem or something else

I have an optical mouse (USB) that I think is going out on me but I just want to confirm.

I am having all kinds of problems when I left click to select or check somthing, I'm also having problems if I want to highlight (by left click and dragging to highlight. Also having difficulty just placing my cursor in between 2 letters of text (like if you want to place your cursor.

I should mention that I do a lot of 3d and graphic work, so I probably use my left mouse button way more than most

Is this more likely to be just a mouse going out or could it be a driver problem or some other issue. When I go into devices and printers, select the mouse properties, then driver... all of the options to roll back, update driver are greyed out.

Just thought I would check here before replacing it.
