HP Pavilion g6-1301sa Notebook PC Wireless Network Adapter Driver

Okay my laptop model is HP Pavilion g6-1301sa Notebook PC. When i first got the computer it was windows 7. A Couple of months later i deiced to try out ubuntu. I Installed it over windows 7. Now i tried to switch back to windows today. I Had to burn a disc with the windows 7 64 Bit ISO. I am now back on Windows 7 but having issues with the drivers. I can't connect to the internet due to no network adapter driver. I Have tried to download and install it a number of items but it either says 'You did not install that correctly' or it says nothing. I Have restarted the computer but the computer still says i need to install the driver. I Also can't even use my USB. I Have checked the drivers for them and it's fine. Just it won't even show up just makes a noise when i plug it in

Hello and welcome Jooshy Well not to put too fine a point on it my friend what you should have done was to burn a bootable Ubuntu disk when you boot from it you choose the non install option. I use this on quite a few occasions to solve hard drive problems when Windows will not boot or someone has lost their password.

However whats done is done. I don't know if that Ubuntu install would have wrecked the partition that is installed at the factory that you can use to do what is known as a factory default. Now if you are game you can try this > On power up tap F11 and it takes you into a repair install.

If the partition is gone then you are going to have to do what you are doing now. That being the case then you are going to have to keep at the driver site.

Also can you confirm that model number please as I cannot find any reference to the one quoted in the HP site. Plus can you give us a shot of the disk > Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management and send the pic back so that we can see what there is on the C: drive. (see my pic)

Hum I don't know why my Google didn't come up with that site as I just copied your quote and entered a search for drivers. Maybe it might be down to a regional thing as I see your site is UK. I recently sent my brother a machine I built for him with everything installed and stuff like the security was not compatible over there - so don't know.

Now no need for the caps my friend I know this is very frustrating and I understand that the Ubuntu must have completely wiped the drive . However you can download an ISO for 7 to a stick set the BIOS to boot from it and use the activation code on the sticker on the bottom of the machine to it may be inside the battery compartment.

The download is from My Digital Life
Windows 7 ISO x86 and x64 Official Direct Download Links (Ultimate, Professional and Home Premium) « My Digital Life < just load that onto the stick and then install as previously mentioned.

Just a thought Jooshy how about making a bootable Ubuntu disk > load the no install option > copy the driver while in the Ubuntu OS to a stick.

Reboot to Windows ands load the driver from the stick? Got to worth a shot mate.

I cannot think of why this is happening as I just Googled it and it is there but why it will not download.

Can you tell us what is in the Device Manager - Network Adaptors > click on Network Adaptors find what is listed. If the drop down list has the adaptor listed has it got a yellow triangle alongside? If that is the case right click on it go to Update driver Software > click it and use the auto search option for the driver. Come to think of it try that anyway.

Ok mate the boot will go ok of that there is no doubt because it will give you the option of install or try. Now it will not involve Windows in any way and you can access the C: drive via the Ubuntu and even run scans or whatever on it the same way.

So just to recap make a bootable Ubuntu disk - set the BIOS to boot from the optical drive - slip the disk and and let run. I am not at home at the moment but if my memory serves me right the tab in Ubuntu is the second down from the top just dig down with that and you will come to the hard drive C: > open users etc etc.

You could contact HP and purchase the recovery disc for your g6. HP makes these available @ a reasonable price around 16 Dollars regular mail U.S. These disc's will return your HP to it's original factory settings.
