Not sure if this would be cheaper or better than buying a new scanner but yours is supported and it will work with Windows 7 VueScan Scanning Software | My System Specs | | OS win8 pro CPU i7 920@4.2 Motherboard evga x58 ftw3 Memory 12gb corsair vengeance Graphics Card gtx580oc sli Sound Card x-fi titanium fatality Monitor(s) Displays dell u3011 & 2405fpw Keyboard g510 Mouse g9x PSU antec hc-900w Case corsair t600se Cooling corsair h100 Hard Drives x25m & 12tb |

I've even tried the XP driver just to see what happens. The scanner's program manager is running, but cannot detect the scanner. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 CPU AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto 3.1GHz Motherboard ASUS M3N72-D Memory G.Skill 4 GB, DDR2-1066 (PC2-8500) Graphics Card GeForce 8800 Sound Card SB Audigy Cooling Sunbeam Freezer |

How fast is the HP? Does it take a while to warm up? I hated having to wait a full 60 seconds using that old Visioneer. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 CPU AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto 3.1GHz Motherboard ASUS M3N72-D Memory G.Skill 4 GB, DDR2-1066 (PC2-8500) Graphics Card GeForce 8800 Sound Card SB Audigy Cooling Sunbeam Freezer |

I had to close the program manager as you call it. Unplug the usb cable on my scanner, plug it back in. The driver from the vuescan installation loaded as UMAX 3400 and when I opened the program everything was good to go.

Thanks, I'm glad it helped you out and that you like it. This has kept my ten year old Epson 1200u going strong since Vista hit. But you're right, I'm sure they don't like it one bit lol
CTerrian, sometimes you have to unplug the scanner, reboot, and plug it in again -make sure the scanner is on when you plug it in. Once it picks up you don't have to do it again. I kept looking on the 'net and happened across this forum. Thanks for the link to VueScan. I tried it and liked it. And bought it!

I got one of these running on Win 7 64 bit. I went to the Epson web site for the software. Newegg.com - EPSON Perfection V300 Photo B11B193081 4800 dpi 48bit USB Interface Flatbed Scanner - Scanner - Flatbed Scanners
It uses LEDs for light source and no waiting for warm up.
