    Maximus Gene Motherboard Identified Component

I've got two 4 pin plugs just under the PCI Slot on my new motherboard (see attached picture) and can't find any info on what they do? Manual and online manual have no mention of these pins. Any ideas?

Next time post full board name, since you say "new" and from the pic you posted I can understand that it is a Maximus V Gene, but there are Maximus IV Gene and so on down to Maximus Gene and each is a generation older.

That's a PCI-Express slot, or PCI-e. All slots on that board are PCI-e. PCI is legacy and you don't find legacy on ROG boards (and on most mini-ATX boards as well).

As for those pins, I found nothing as well.

I'd speculate that they were placed for Asus to do some tests on the motherboard before shipping. I did see other boards that do have pins placed only for the manufacturer's own quality control testing instruments, but more often than not, they were clearly labeled as such in the manual.
