    Msi cx420


    i have a laptop (MSI CX420)

    the display is not turning on ive tried all the basic troubleshooting stuff that i know...
    *checked the RAM
    *used external monitor (no display on both)
    everythign seems to be in good condition...

    if you had the same problem and you were able to fix it, please reply on this thread
    or
    my main concern actually is... can the videocard of this laptopn be dis mantled ???

    Some graphics are chips are soldered onto the motherboard. These are generally not replaceable by the home user.

    Some are modules that plug into the board. These can be easily replaced.

    You can determine this by finding a pdf copy of your laptops Service Manual online (if there is one). If it is a replaceable component there will be instructions in the manual.
    You can also make a reasonable guess by looking at the laptop's specs on the manufacturer's website. If they offer more than one graphics engine for the same laptop it is most likely a replaceable module.

    That said, try a reset:
    Turn off > Remove power supply > remove laptop battery > press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
    Put everything back together and boot.
