BIOS Update - Boot Loader Missing

In the previous post I showed my boot options page. On it was CSM. If you expand CSM it gives you a brief description on the left to explain what the options mean. Mine is set to auto, which enables either one but allows you to install in legacy mode but gives most of the advantages of UEFI. I just select the SSD I want to boot from. It sounds like that is what you like. Yours may or may not be called the same, but it seems you should have similar options although called something else.

I think my brain is beginning to leak out my ears. I've been up to 3:00 am the past two nights and am really really tired.

Anyway, I made pics of the bios and attached them. Maybe they make more sense to you than they do to me. Just for the heck of it, I tried setting the boot order again to Optical 1st, SSD 2nd and everything else disabled. Failed yet again.

Ugh!

Btw, it's Christmas eve and if you have better things to do, I will certainly understand.

It looks a little different than mine. Please show me a picture with Interrupt 19 expanded so I can see what it is and also a picture of the bottom section of the boot screen. Scroll down lower to the bottom if you can. It may be possible that it is in advanced options, although I think it should be in boot options. That is the most logical place for it. And Merry Christmas to you also. If you need to get some sleep, go ahead. I will be here tomorrow too. Just be advised, if we do find it and change it, you will be forced to do a clean install.

My background is in linguistics, language analysis and symbolic logic so I think in rather boring procedural or mechanical ways. I am not especially creative nor am I prone to off-the-wall "try this" problem solving.

So ...

In the BIOS I really don't have any options, e.g.

1) Interrupt 19 - either enable or disable --- Tried both

2) No Advanced Mode options - either Advanced or Simple

So there's just not much I can do within this particular BIOS.

My conclusion: This BIOS update is the problem.

Remember my prior comment:

This is the strangest darn thing I have ever encountered. Better to flash with an older BIOS version maybe? (please see attached) This is what scares me: Support new CPUs.

This BIOS update may be specific to Bulldozer or chips that are ostensibly more "advanced" than my AMD 6-Core. What do you think if I reflash with #1605 instead of the latest one #1703 which is giving me problems? (please see attached)

I do not believe that the 'support new CPUs' is the problem. It does not mean that it supports yours no longer, it only adds support for newer ones. Mine will do the same thing. You didn't mention what model CPU you are running. I have read your manual twice now and really don't see anything. I have no idea what interrupt 19 is. You can try with a previous bios update. But, first. When you go to install the OS and pick the hard drive as the primary boot device, do you have 2 options as in Crucial SSD and UEFI Crucial SSD?

OK, before doing anything rash, I have sent a message to someone else who has the same motherboard as you. I hope he will know exactly what to do. He is in the UK, so it may be several hours before he responds, especially being Christmas morning there. They are +6 hours ahead of me. so....

do you have 2 options as in Crucial SSD and UEFI Crucial SSD?

I'm mentally burnt and will check later. Re CPU, it's AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor, Black Edition (HDT90ZFBGRBOX). I don't overclock. I use my computers for work and never gaming.

The reason I pointed up the possibility of BIOS #1703 is that I know from all my activity on OCN that new BIOS versions often give you problems.

IRQ 19?? Never heard of such a thing! I always thought there were 15 IRQ's though I may still be in the 90's.

Time to get my beauty sleep, though I believe that also might be a fruitless endeavor.
