Have you tried just going to Start and then select Devices and Printers. If that is what you tried I would run sfc /scannow.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Have you been using any Tune Up or fix my computer programs?

Put any USB stick in and see whether it works then.

    Devices & Printers not loading

I have had this problem on my desktop but not on my laptop. I was blaming my printer which was only in use with dt. I bought a new printer 10 days ago, connected by usb first, but then decided to use the wireless facility and have it working with both machines. Still the no loading problem with the desktop, but would load in safe mode with an error symbol on the printer.
I did a lot of research on the problem, tried the usual Bluetooth/Print Spooler/SFC as advised on many sites, but still no progress.
Then I found a suggestion of creating a second user account, and behold, I can open Devices & Printers in this account.
