    2TB USB3 HDDS acceptable?

    Hey guys,

Thinking of buying a USB3 external hard drive for both storage&backup and also playing movies through my Xbox. I am aware there is some kind of limitation around the 2TB mark in compatibility with windows, will a 2TB drive work

Also, does anyone know if there are maximum supported storage spaces on the Xbox

    Thanks

    Hello Macca,

In Windows, it's just that a MBR (default) formatted disk only supports up to 2TB per single partition. While a GPT formatted disk supports up to 256TB per single partition. You don't want to have your Windows disk formatted as GPT since it render Windows unbootable.

Looks like it's only up to 32 GB for Xbox, but you could just create a 32GB partition for it to use.

    Hope this helps, :)

I think that 32 may just be for using it is a game save device, since I've used a 70gb hard drive with no problems, so I guess I could maybe assume it's the same as windows, since it's a Microsoft product.

In summary a 2TB hard drive is guaranteed to work with windows, it isn't a borderline issue?

Do you have experience using it with an Xbox?

Brink is right. The problem people were experiencing was drives larger than 2tb needing GPT formatting when MBR formatting was the norm and using it as a Windows drive.
