External USB DVD Drive doesn't work on 3 machines but works on my XP
External DVD-RW Drive: Transcend TS8KDVDRW-K
This drive is getting a "USB Device not Installed" error lately on Windows 7 64 bit SP1 (my main machine that I just cleanly installed Windows 8 on). I rarely use the drive but I remember using it before on the same pc (same specs) with the same OS.
On my old laptop, I connected the DVD-RW drive, but no problems appeared.
On my other pc that is running Windows XP SP3, the DVD-RW failed to work.
The same error appears on another machine that I recently built and installed Windows 7 64 bit SP1.
I did a clean install of Windows 8 64 on my main pc and the alert in device manager for the drive is "Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed).
The DVD-RW drive is definately working because it works on my laptop. However it fails to work on my other Windows 7, Windows XP, and a Windows 8 machines.
