I'd like to know if it's possible to remap the Windows US Keyboard to add support for Mac US Keyboard style dead keys, I'll provide a list of them below. If at all possible I would like to map the OS X OPTION key functionality to the Fn key, alternatively I'd like to use ctrl+alt to make the option key press; I know vista didn't recognize Fn as a key press. I've already added the Mac International keyboard support to Windows using the Windows Keyboard Editor downloaded from MSDN, and a mock layout from
Macinto US Keyboard Layout for Windows - Minus . I'd just change the layout, but I'm kind of used to the other one, the dead keys in the Mac layout are identical to the old Canadian French keyboard that disappeared from the market some time ago for this Multilingual thing they push on both language here.
Tl;dr I would like to recreate the option key in Windows 7 Home Premium on a standard US QWERTY keyboard, wondering if it's even possible.
I speak French and would like to be able to type in French, but I bought my laptop online during a black friday sale in the US in case you're wondering about how I got into this situation, it's rather expensive to swap out a built in keyboard or I would just replace it with a Canadian Multilingual Standard keyboard.
For those who would like to know the layout I'm adding it's as such:
none:
` 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 - =
q w e r t y u i o p [ ] \
a s d f g h j k l ; '
z x c v b n m , . /
shift:
~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ +
Q W E R T Y U I O P { } |
A S D F G H J K L : "
Z X C V B N M < > ?
option:
` ¡ ™ £ ¢ ∞ § ¶ • ª º – ≠
œ ∑ ´ ® † ¥ ¨ ˆ ø π “ ‘ «
å ß ∂ ƒ © ˙ ∆ ˚ ¬ … æ
Ω ≈ ç √ ∫ ˜ µ ≤ ≥ ÷
option+shift:
` ⁄ € ‹ › fi fl ‡ ° · ‚ — ±
Œ „ ´ ‰ ˇ Á ¨ ˆ Ø ∏ ” ’ »
Å Í Î Ï ˝ Ó Ô Ò Ú Æ
¸ ˛ Ç ◊ ı ˜ Â ¯ ˘ ¿
Edit: Also First Post! Sorry, had to do it.
