    Partition 3tb drive

Hi ive just installed a 3TB storage drive gpt and created one partition, would it be safer if there were several partitions for data storage. if so can i now create more partitions on the drive.

Make two 1.5tb partitions so windows recognises them and then format them to ntfs

Hi baccini. Creating more than 1 partition on your drive will not make it safer if the drive ever fails.

To make it safe you would have to get another drive and backup on a daily/ weekly basis to that drive

Yess but Baccini, windows will only recognsie 2tb of it, you must still partition it to 1.5tb each or similar

Sorry. I assumed you needed the format to be ntfs. Sorry for the confusion
