    Just needs to be able to run MS word.

    What do you recommend?

    You might find a second hand one at this price but try before you buy. Make sure it has a genuine copy of Windows installed!

    thanks for the replies so far.

    Any other recommendations (not a fan of netbooks)

    I'm going to consider the eBay one but not liking that it has Windows XP :S

    If all you want it for is to run MS Word then I doubt it makes much difference what OS you have!

    Why not a Tablet? Something like the Nexus 7 would easily run any Office software.

    But can you attach a printer to a Nexus 7? I have managed to avoid tablets (apart from the ones I take for blood pressure) so am a dunce on their operating system!

    On the Nexus 7 you cannot run the MS office. But there is Kingsoft Office that I use. I have a Motorola bluetooth keyboard with trackpad which makes using that package easy. I would not recommend trying to use it with the on-sceen keyboard - too finagle.
