We probably will not get this completed tonight. Should I leave the computer on 24/7 now until it is completed.
I have to set my BIOS so that it boots from a DVD first.

NewModeUS.com has some very nice kits that are relatively inexpensive and they are very well made. Take a look:
Caddys for many models: caddys for notebooks

Did you run startup repair 3 times already? After that boot normally and post bcdedit output. After that I gonna sleep.
If all went succesfull you have only 1 partition on disk and F8 recovery to "safe mode" and "repair your computer" work. Check that! If OS has been transfered and works without errors... you can delete partition OS on HDD. And then create any partition you want.
I don't see bcdedit output. Code:
bcdedit/enum all>bcd.txt
notepad bcd.txt Now copy/paste the text in your post. close notepad and delete the file. I need readable text, so I can copy/paste and make eventually new commands to instruct you | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number ACER ASPIRE 5742G OS Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bits 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 370 @ 2.40GHz Motherboard Acer Aspire 5742G Memory 4,00 GB Graphics Card ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5400 Series Sound Card (1) AMD High Definition Audio Device (2) Realtek High Defi Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 x 32 bits (4294967296 colors) @ 60 Hz Hard Drives WDC WD5000BEVT-22ZAT0 |

The snip posted above that you probably can't identify is a bcdedit sans Notepad.
Anyway, below are the new bcdedit snips.

Anyway, below are the new bcdedit snips. bcdedit output looks fine. But still no F8 winre functionality!
In elevated command prompt: Works? If so post bcdedit output again.
If not ... do you have file c:\windows\system32\recovery\winre.wim ? | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number ACER ASPIRE 5742G OS Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bits 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 370 @ 2.40GHz Motherboard Acer Aspire 5742G Memory 4,00 GB Graphics Card ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5400 Series Sound Card (1) AMD High Definition Audio Device (2) Realtek High Defi Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 x 32 bits (4294967296 colors) @ 60 Hz Hard Drives WDC WD5000BEVT-22ZAT0 |
