Samsung SSD pb22-js3 fde not recognised in Windows Explorer

    Hi,
I replaced my samsung ssd pb22-js3 fde with the 840 Pro. Then moved the former into a caddy to occupy my DVD Writer space as second drive.
The BIOS recognises both drives. But Windows explorer only lists the Samsung 840 Pro. I've tried all possible trouble shooting all to no avail. The 840 Pro is in AHCI mode.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hey and welcome to SF,

    Ok we can try this:

Start > type in search manage at top click Computer Management.

Then double left click on Storage in the centre box.

Then double click on Disk management.

You should see your Samsung 840? (i.e.- C: drive?)

What else do you see? If you can see your other drive it probably hasnt got a drive letter assigned to it?
If this is the case then right click Change drive letter and paths then click change and assign it a drive letter, click ok and exit.

Goto Computer and you should now see it.

I think thats what your describing?

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers dave

    Spot on.
Thanks Northernsoul55. Apparently problem was as you diagnosed; but I wonder why explorer did not assign a drive letter...?
    Anyway, problem solved.
    Thanks again man.

    Hey Suavedude,

I thought that was it, when you swapped the drive over, Windows (not the bios) did not recognise it for that very reason :)

Glad it is resoved and happy to help,

    Cheers

    Dave
