    Keyboard Buttons Have Gone Faulty

    Hi all

I am completely stumped as my keyboard has gone haywire and am quite annoyed i cant fix it

Am running windows 7 on toshiba satellite pro laptop and was wondering if its a software or perhaps hardware issue.

    Here is what is happening:

    - Caps lock light doesnt stay on anymore but it flashes when i press it. It does still work properly though
    - Left SHIFT key still works but when i press it.....it also creates this symbol ~ at the same time within UK keyboard. If i change to US keyboard then it enters the PIPE symbol.
    - The ~ key above the tab key actually does this ¬
    - And the pipe key which is above the Enter key types this: #7

Does anyone have any idea on how i can sort this as its quite frustrating! Thanks for any ideas.

    cheers

Hi there asklink, Welcome to Seven Forums.

A quick search around on Google finds that a lot of people are having the same issue or issues with the keyboard.

I was looking on the toshiba forums and they suggest you perform a BIOS update to fix this issue.

If you should experience the above issue on your notebook, please perform a BIOS Update in order to rectify the problem.

Please download and install the latest BIOS Update package for your model from the Toshiba driver download page: TOSHIBA PC BIOS Support Country Selector

I'm thinking perhaps the layout has been changed to a different set up from the UK keyboard.

If you can, Try this for me:

Open the start menu, Then control panel, then open up " Region and Languages", Then select the Keyboard and Languages tab, Then click on Change Keyboards,

What is set as the Default input Language?

    Thanks for you replies.

Yes I have tried the control panel language/country settings but as I explained above all that does is the following:

When I press left SHIFT key it changes the ~ to a |

    Wierd hey?
