External Harddrive not connecting to Computer
I have a Serial ATA Bridge Ultra Speed external hard drive that has been very reliable for the past 5 years. As of the last Windows 7 update my Desktop computer (Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) will not detect it, and the External hard drive itself beeps and clicks when connected (I have tried all the USB ports available on my Desktop Computer). I have gone into Computer -> Device Manager -> Universal Serial Bus Controllers and there is no Mass Storage Device USB when the hard drive is connected.
(My Desktop computer was custom built about 3 years ago, system specs are in my profile)
This external hard drive connects fine to my laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) and I can see it is connected via the Device Manager, but I have not updated the laptop in a few weeks. I don't know if that is an issue or not. I backed up all my files from the external hard drive onto my laptop just in case.
I have searched for all driver updates, and apparently everything is up-to-date. I even double checked and connected it to another Desktop Computer (Windows Vista home basic) that is up-to-date and it connected just fine. Also, I went and bought a new Seagate External Hard drive and the same thing happened to it as to my old external hard drive, beeping and clicking and no detection.
