More Android Tablet Questions

I sent off to get a Micro SD for my tablet. It came today in good order, but I also received something I was not expecting. It looks like the Micro SD but bigger and the Micro SD fits inside of it. It says "Adapter" on the side. I am guessing I could put the Micro SD in the Adapter and use it on something else. The Adapter is about an inch by a half inch. This brings me to my question. What kind of device would use this? Thanks,

PC and laptops may have SD slots for SD cards which, like USB thumb drives, are just another method of storing and transporting data. The adapter fits into the SD slot. If PC does not have the slot, there are external USB peripherals that do.

All micro SD cards (at least the ones I have seen) come with that additional adaptor. You will probably never need it. I always throw them away.
