Windows 7: Device not found: MSCD001 No valid CDRom Drive device selected

I am working on a HP envy laptop. I cannot say for certain if the root cause is 2 active partitions or the wrong active partition. Either way, On startup the machine gives the error message - boot failed because a required device is inaccessible.

I have tried to run a windows 7 repair disk, and on start up it just returns to the same boot menu with the error message.

I then tried to run partition wizard and the same thing, just goes back to the same message.

I finally tried to run the windows 7 install disk, and I receive this message- Device not found: MSCD001
No valid CDRom Drive device selected

Has anyone had experience with this issue? I am not sure what else to do to repair windows. My last option is to try a bootable usb.



If anyone has had experience with this sort of thing I would l appreciate it. I am beyond frustrated and cannot even think straight on this anymore.
