Synaptics Pointing Device Driver Auto Disable at startup

I bought an Asus K53S laptop about 4 months ago and recently I went to msconfig and disabled some startup programes. One of them was the Synaptics Pointing Device driver. I then enabled it back again and now it won't run in startup eventhough it is marked in msconfig. I have to manually start it in my own by going to Control Panel>Devices and Printers>Mouse Settings in order to the icon appear in the taskbar.

I would be extremely appreciated if anyone could help me with this problem.

You don't need half of that stuff running in the background. take the checkmark back out of the synaptics driver in msconfig.

Did you try going into Device Manager and reinstalling the driver? Also, I assume that you DO NOT have a wireless mouse plugged into a USB port? This will disable the Synaptice Pointing Device as well...
