Windows 7 All USB devices now show up as unknown
I come to you in my hour of need.
My about 2 year old pc has out of the blue started losing the ability to recognize USB devices. It first started with new devices that I would plug in (new usb drives). Then eventually its happened to all of my usb devices that I had previously used, but don't continually have plugged in, and finally it happened to my mouse and keyboard.
when plugged in, the pc will make the found new hardware beep, it will say new hardware has been installed, but on device manager everything shows up as unknown device. I have tried all my usb ports with all my different devices and no luck. They will show up under devices/printers as the object/drive they are.
I have checked to make sure these devices themselves still work and they do with other pc's/laptops
I have uninstalled all the drivers for these devices, and reinstalled, I have reinstalled the drivers for my chipset, I have unistalled, with device manager, all my usb host controllers and reset my pc to have it reinstall them.
Still nothing. My mouse, keyboard, camera, 2 flash drives, and game controller wont work. The sole exception is my ipod touch which really baffles me.
I have attached a belarc profile of my computer which has all the specs I think needed, please ask for more information if its not there.
If someone can help me I would be eternally grateful, as I am at the end of my rope, and would really like to be able to use my PC again.
